How GTrak collects, uses and protects your data — and what rights you have over it.
Last updated: June 2026.
Who we are
GTrak Ltd ("GTrak", "we", "us") is the data controller for personal data collected through this website and our tracking services. Our office is in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, United Kingdom. You can contact us at [email protected] or on 01924 942570.
What we collect
- Account & billing data — name, business name, email, postal address, phone number, VAT number (if you provide it), payment confirmation from Stripe (we never see card numbers).
- Vehicle & tracking data — GPS positions, ignition state, speed, harsh-event flags, driver-ID tag readings, dashcam clips and tachograph (.DDD) files where applicable. We process this on behalf of the fleet operator (the controller) when GTrak acts as processor; we are the controller for Thatcham SOC subscriptions.
- Website data — anonymous server logs, IP addresses, cookie-based session identifiers, and analytics on aggregate page visits.
Why we use it
- To deliver the tracking, monitoring and recovery services you've bought.
- To raise invoices, take payment, and answer support queries.
- To meet our legal obligations — including drivers'-hours / WTD record-keeping where you've opted into our Remote Tachograph product.
- To investigate, with the police, any incident triggered by a Thatcham-approved tracker we monitor.
How long we keep it
Tracking position data is retained for 12 months by default (configurable per customer). Dashcam clips are retained 30 / 60 / 90 days depending on plan. Invoices and accounting records are kept for 7 years to meet UK tax law. Marketing data is deleted on request or after 24 months of inactivity.
Who we share it with
- Stripe — payment processing.
- Microsoft 365 & Google Workspace — email and document collaboration.
- UK police forces and the DVSA — only where required for stolen-vehicle recovery, road-traffic-incident enquiries or statutory audits.
- Your nominated installer for hardware fittings.
We do not sell your data, ever.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask to see, correct, port or delete your personal data. Send a request to [email protected] and we'll respond within 30 days. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
